Vitalik told you to buy.
Naval told you to buy.
Balaji told you to buy.
Mert and Toly told you to buy.
And you didn’t buy Zcash? What’s wrong with you?

Once written off as a relic of the 2017 cycle, Zcash is now mounting one of the strongest recoveries of 2025 and has now even flipped the previous top privacy coin, Monero (XMR).

So what’s next for ZEC and how high can this puppy go?

Zcash’s Shielded Supply Hits All-Time High, What’s Next For ZEC Price?

Market Cap

There’s a key difference between privacy coins Monero and Zcash:  Monero actively courted darknet markets and got first mover advantage at the time when Zcash mobile wallets sucked. Drug buyers want something simple; they don’t want to learn about transparent and shielded addresses when they are high.

The problem is that Monero went too hard on DNM use case: they will never get on Coinbase, never have an ETF, and will always be a $300 coin.

Zcash has a real shot of becoming a percentage point of all legitimate money – that’s a much, much bigger number than 100% of DNM money.

While regulators have attacked Monero over its DNM share, Zcash’s hidden supply keeps climbing. More than 4.5M ZEC – 28% of circulation – now sits inside shielded addresses that reveal nothing: not sender, not receiver, not even the amount.

The timing is great. As governments demand more data, one of crypto’s oldest privacy chains is doing the opposite and with the backing of regulators and exchanges.

“This rise in shielded coins signals growing trust in ZEC’s privacy infrastructure,” said one Zcash Foundation contributor.

So, can ZEC hit $1,000 or even $50,000 if it becomes a hub for offshore and private wealth? Here’s what the numbers say:

Can ZEC Hit $1k? Technical Momentum and Institutional Flows

Zcash still looks strong. Daily volume has topped $730 million, RSI hovers near 72, and a bullish MACD crossover confirms buyers are in control. Resistance sits around $400, with room to run toward $450 – $500 if momentum holds.

CoinGecko data shows that ZEC is up more than 30% this month, outperforming Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.

Grayscale’s Zcash Trust now manages $137 million, fueling talk of an ETF conversion and renewed institutional interest.

“Arthur Hayes’ $1,000 call doesn’t sound far-fetched if privacy coins stay in rotation,” a QCP Capital trader said. “The narrative’s shifting fast.”

Privacy Coins Reclaim the Narrative

Zcash’s resurgence is occurring just as regulators intensify their surveillance efforts. Governments from Washington to Brussels are tightening rules that force wallets to reveal identities and trace every transaction.

If ZEC can hold above $400, it could claw its way back into crypto’s top tier. Privacy isn’t dying and could be the best narrative heading into 2026.
