Onramp Debuts “Onramp Institutional” to Meet Fiduciary Standards

DALLAS — Sept. 5, 2025 – Onramp Bitcoin has launched Onramp Institutional, an advisory-led program built to help investment committees, boards, CIOs and treasurers evaluate, structure, and govern Bitcoin exposure with audit-ready controls—less pitch deck, more process.

Instead of steering allocators toward a single type of product/vehicle, the workflow begins with Onramp Advisory—a committee-grade briefing and decision framework—that routes clients into the access path that best fits their mandate: direct custody via a Multi-Institution Custody (MIC) vault, a U.S. statutory trust (Wyoming), or an international Cayman fund.

The custody spine is MIC: on-chain-verifiable, segregated vaults with a 2-of-3 multisig quorum, with each key held by completely separate and independent institutional custodians, designed to remove single points of failure while allowing in-kind subscriptions and redemptions.

In practice, no single custodian controls movement of the assets; a key compromise, outage, or jurisdictional freeze at any one party does not strand client assets because the remaining quorum can still authorize policy-compliant transactions.

Clients (and auditors) can independently verify balances and movements on-chain, replacing “trust the PDF” with independently verifiable on-chain proof. The firm frames this as wrapper- and issuer-neutral infrastructure rather than a product itself.

Why it’s a Step Up from Single-Custodian Models

Most institutional arrangements—including many ETF structures—centralize operational control with one primary qualified custodian. That simplicity comes with concentration risk (counterparty risk, legal, operational, jurisdictional).

MIC eliminates single points of failure by distributing private keys and controls, tightening governance (maker/checker, role-based approvals), all while preserving auditability and on-chain transparency.

Target clients range from family offices and RIAs, to pensions, endowments, corporate treasuries, sovereign funds, and hedge funds. Onramp says diligence packs are available now, with bookings funneled through a fiduciary briefing hub.

On its site, the company casts the pitch in governance terms—“prudence is provable”—emphasizing documented process, fit-for-purpose wrappers, and committee-friendly controls over ETF-only shortcuts.

It’s a deliberately sober answer to the question some institutional ICs are actually asking: not whether to own bitcoin, but how to own it without blowing up policy, audits, optics or reputation.
