MetaMask Hints at Global Rollout of MetaMask Card

Leading self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet MetaMask has launched early access for its MetaMask Card in select regions—including United States, the United Kingdom, and several others across Europe and Latin America—with global roll-out on the way.

The card functions as a debit card linked directly to a MetaMask wallet, enabling users to spend cryptocurrency at any merchant that accepts Mastercard. However, unlike traditional crypto-to-fiat conversion methods, the MetaMask Card allows direct payments without pre-loading funds.

Although availability remains limited, MetaMask has indicated that further expansion is on the horizon, with a waitlist open for users in regions not yet included.

How does the MetaMask Card work?

The MetaMask Card is a self-custodial crypto payment card designed to allow users to spend their digital assets directly, removing the need for intermediary exchanges or banking services.

Unlike many crypto-linked debit cards, it does not require users to top up a separate balance; instead, it converts assets from their MetaMask wallet into fiat at the time of purchase. Supported cryptocurrencies currently include USDC, USDT, and WETH—all operating on the Linea network.

The card is compatible with digital payment platforms such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, making it accessible for contactless transactions. Users in approved regions can apply for the card and begin using it immediately upon approval.

When will the MetaMask Card be available worldwide?

MetaMask has rolled out early access to users in the United States (excluding New York and Vermont), the European Union, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Switzerland.

The company has suggested that a broader international launch is planned, though no specific timeline has been provided. However, users outside the currently supported regions can join a waitlist to be notified when the card becomes available in their country.

Whilst the global rollout is not yet confirmed, MetaMask’s ongoing expansion of its early access program suggests that more regions may gain access in the very near future.
