Digital bank GoTyme Bank launched its “Go Crypto” feature on its mobile application, allowing select users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies directly within the platform.
Go Crypto Launch
Initially teased earlier this year, the new feature marks the digital bank’s entry into the crypto space.
While the feature is now live, it is currently accessible only to select users. They can explore the Go Crypto option under the “Buy and sell crypto” section of the GoTyme app.
As of writing, GoTyme Bank has yet to announce the timeline for its full rollout to all users.
According to a Facebook post from a user who already has access to the feature, the currently available cryptocurrencies on GoTyme’s Go Crypto include BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, LINK, AAVE, AVAX, BCH, and DOT.
According to GoTyme Bank’s Q2 2025 update, the in-app service aims to make cryptocurrency more accessible to Filipinos by integrating trading functions without the need for a separate platform, expressing its plans to make Go Crypto available to all customers later this year as part of its broader goal to provide secure, inclusive, and innovative financial services.
What is GoTyme?
GoTyme Bank is a digital bank in the Philippines jointly operated by the Gokongwei Group and Singapore-based Tyme Group.
In 2024, it received a license from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP).
In July, GoTyme Bank shared that it reached ₱30 billion in customer deposits and 6.5 million users, less than three years since its launch.
Crypto Regulation in PH
Currently, the Philippines regulates cryptocurrencies under two frameworks, as it recognizes their dual role as both payment instruments and investment assets.
The BSP oversees VASPs, which include firms that handle crypto exchanges, transfers, and wallet custody, under anti-money laundering and consumer protection rules.
Last month, the central bank extended its moratorium on new VASP license applications starting September 1, 2025, citing ongoing concerns over consumer protection and cybercrime. The ban, first imposed in 2022, remains in effect until further review, though existing BSP-supervised institutions with stable ratings may still apply.
Meanwhile, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulates Crypto Asset Service Providers, which cover token offerings, trading platforms, and investment-related crypto activities, focusing on investor protection and market integrity.
