In this ever-evolving world, each generation has adopted different eras of technology. But this so-called “web3 technology”? This emerging technology is generational.
- During the YGG Road Trip event in Baguio hosted by Yield Guild Games Pilipinas, we showed proof of why—families have attended a blockchain technology-focused event.
This time, we will show another proof that different generations have adopted this emerging technology.
What’s the Significance? This calls for more educational awareness campaigns about web3, blockchain technology, and the cryptocurrency industry around the different provinces in the country, where students can learn and catch their interests for free.
The Proof
Meet Ae Je Villena, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student at the University of Baguio, who learned about web3 technology during the recent YGG Road Trip in Baguio City.
- According to Villena, he and his batchmates were convinced to go to the event primarily to learn:
“We were invited by our professors to try this as our thesis po next school year. So, I decided to join here po kasi interesting po ang topic, which is about web3, kasi na-intrigue po ako about what is web3. As an IT student, gusto ko pong palawakin ang aking scope of learning.”

- But what Villena’s professors told them was not just simply learning, but having fun while learning:
“Kasi po iyong quest po na ibinigay sa amin is to have a fun learning experience at each booth, to learn about their ideas or what’s their project all about.”
[“The task that was given to us by our professors was to have a fun learning experience at each booth, to learn about their ideas or what their project is all about.”]
- Luckily, they did not attend out of pressure and following what their professors want, but because these students found the event interesting and eye-catching:
“It’s a new experience for me, like a brand new world, to tap into web3. Kasi kapag iisipin mo, it’s the future din eh, kasi you can see the other games moving through using cryptocurrencies to enjoy the game more and immerse yourself in their product.”

- Meanwhile, expressing themselves on how they see cryptocurencies, Villena told BitPinas:
“Cryptocurrencies are actually the future of currencies, kasi as we progress in the world of technology, we should embrace it and we should also learn it in ourselves and also web3, para sa mga inspired game developers and sa mga cryptocurrency enthusiasts.”

- Villena also showed their interest in further expanding his knowledge about web3 technology even after the event:
“I’m looking for more learning pa po, kasi I’m starting po and siguro I’m going to research more about it and also to integrate it soon and implement it soon sa mga projects namin.”
[I am looking for more learning about it because I am just starting in this industry. I am also going to research more about it and would also integrate and implement it soon in our projects.”]
Closing Thoughts
Blockchain technology was conceptualized as early as 2008, but 16 years later, more and more people are still learning it—because it has many use cases.
- From the birth of cryptocurrencies to non-fungible tokens, to web3 games, and even to decentralized finance protocols, indeed, blockchain technology is not just the present, it is also the future.
Many from the #CryptoPH Community are already Titos and Titas. The BitPinas Team is a good example.
- It is good to see new generations learning about web3, cryptocurrencies, web3 games, and other real-life use cases.
Indeed, this industry is generational!
